Joseph Victor Schlachter, 63, passed away December 1, 2013. He was born April 5, 1950 in Indianapolis, son of the late Linus and Helen (Kohn) Schlachter. He was a graduate of Harry E. Wood High School. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Hart Schlachter. He is survived by three sisters, Kathleen Hofmeister (the late Greg Hofmeister), West Lebanon, IN, Marie Kistler (Lynn), Bemidji, MN, and Annie Schlachter (Al Jenkins) of Indianapolis, and his brother, Donald (Melanie) of Huntsville, AL. He had attended Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Joe was an Indianapolis Colts fan, enjoyed traveling, watching movies, listening to a wide variety of music, and visiting with family and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 8 from 12:00 until 1:00 at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, 8151 Allisonville Road, with the service following at 1:00.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

I am very sorry to hear about Joe. I remember riding the bus home from school with him and hanging out at the Schlachter house as a kid. My Mom and Helen were were friends. We lived down the street (31st) Pam Casserly
